Race of Truth" Amateur Riders Start List - 11am on 2/20/09
Solvang, California, USA—For only the second time in Amgen Tour of California (ATOC) race history, qualified amateur cyclists will ride the Stage 6 Solvang Individual Time Trial closed course one hour prior to the pros on Friday, February 20, 2008 at 11 AM. Riders will have up to 45 minutes to ride the official 15-mile time trial course. (2008 ATOC Solvang Time Trial winner Levi Leipheimer completed the same course in 30 min., 46 sec.)

The Solvang Time Trial Starting Line is located at Mission Drive (HWY 246) & First Street. Finish Line is located on Copenhagen Drive & First Street (one block from Start). Lifestyle Festival is at Solvang Park and beyond. All race day events are FREE and open to the public.

This is an extraordinarily different professional cycling team because it was designed to raise awareness of Type 1 diabetes. Team Type 1 is conducting a pre-season training camp for the second year in Solvang and the Santa Ynez Valley from January 26-February 2, 2009; headquartered in Buellton.

A gala celebration is planned for Feb. 20 in Solvang to celebrate the cyclists, crew and volunteers of the Amgen Tour of California bicycling race, as well as to celebrate hosting the tour in the quaint Danish-style town.
