AEG, the organizer of the 2011 Tour of California, has again selected the city of Solvang and the Santa Ynez Valley as hosts for the critical 6th Stage Individual Time Trial, May 20, 2011, the biggest professional cycling race in America. The long term benefits of this event in terms of exposure and in fostering tourism for our beautiful little Valley are significant.
In order to bring this world class event to the Valley, the Local Organizing Committee and Solvang have committed to provide much of the local support, including over 300 volunteers, housing and food for the athletes and their team support, local logistics and traffic control. Our budget for this event could exceed $100,000.
The help to fund this event will come from every part of our community and at all monetary levels. We hope you will join in this support.

The City of Solvang is once again hosting Stage 6 of the Amgen Tour of California Professional Bike Race as it races through our beautiful valley. Regardless of your knowledge of cycling, this event will help most everyone in the valley through the trickle down affect of the world wide exposure for our valley. The event last saw over 15,000 people visit the valley in 2009 and should attract even more this year. The television coverage on the VS network each night with one hour specifically in the Valley is immeasurable in advertising value.
Please join our team in bringing this exciting event to the roads of the valley when the cycling pros promise to once again give us a world class show. We encourage you all to come out and watch the riders start near Solvang Park, Finish on Copenhagen Dr., or at any point along the route as it meanders through the communities of Ballard and Los Olivos.
